Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER-CB is a compensation board available for use with KERDI-DRAIN-H, KERDI-DRAIN-A, and KERDI-LINE-A in conjunction with KERDI-SHOWER prefabricated shower trays. It allows for the shower trays to be installed in instances when they are unable to be installed directly on the subfloor without interfering with other components. KERDI-SHOWER-CB is made of lightweight, expanded polystyrene for constructing mortar-free shower bases. It is available in 1″ (2.5 cm) and 3-1/2″ (8.9 cm) perimeter height, both offered as 48″ x 24″ (122 cm x 61 cm) sheets. The compensation board can be easily cut to size and fit around the drain components and multiple boards can be used to fit the size and shape of the shower.
Installation instructions for the use of KERDI-SHOWER-CB in shower applications can be found in the Schluter®-Shower System Installation Handbook.
1. Dry fit the Schluter®-KERDI- SHOWER-CB compensation board and KERDI-SHOWER tray. If necessary, cut the tray and compensation board to size. Take measurements for the drain flange and ABS/PVC outlet pipe locations as needed.
2. Mark and cut the compensation board for the associated bonding flange opening using the template provided (maximum 6" (150mm) diameter).
3. For Schluter®-KERDI-DRAIN-H only, mark and cut a 2-3/4" (70 mm) – 3" (76 mm) maximum wide slot for the ABS/PVC outlet pipe. Do not exceed the maximum to ensure proper tile support.
4. Apply Schluter SET®, ALL-SET®, FAST-SET®, or unmodified thin-set mortar to the substrate using a 1/4" x 3/8" (6 mm x 10 mm) square- or U-notched trowel.
5. Place the KERDI-SHOWER-CB compensation board and solidly embed in the mortar.
6. Dry fit the plumbing components to verify the compensation board provides adequate height prior to installing the shower tray.
7. Continue with installation steps depending on the chosen Schluter drain assembly.
