How do I choose between the 120V and a 240V Schluter®-DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables?
There is no single determining factor. In general, 120V heating cables must be connected to 120V power sources and 240V heating cables must be connected to 240V power sources. Some other considerations include the following:
- Determine if there is dedicated circuit already available in the room
- Determine if there is space available in the electrical panel for additional breakers (120V requires one breaker spot, whereas 240V requires two)
- Determine the current (amps) remaining in the electrical panel. 120V uses twice the amount of amps vs. 240V at the same wattage.
Consult with a qualified electrician for assistance with this process before making a final decision.
